Reports from skunked.ca have been down right depressing. The few boats that are going out have been targeting lake trout. The bowl never turned green this year. With all the ice it's hard to imagine why this phenomenon occurred. Head scratcher for sure!

Fished a number of days in The Kettle Point area for the Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby in the past week. the weather has been great with lots of suns and very little wind to contend with. The fishing has not been so great with some low water temps of 47 to 48 degrees on the surface and down temps of 40 degrees. I think and hope that we need a couple of weeks for the water to warm up and then things will heat up for some good salmon fishing.

Yeah, cold water. Just too cold yet to get things going. The surface water warmed up a lot through the week, but only in the shallow muddy water. Get out into the clear stuff and its still 40 or under. The fishing got better as the week went on, but I think the best is yet to come.
