It wont be long.Looks like 20-30 miles of ice left.North winds have sent it all down to us.

I can't wait to get back on the open water. Have had my fill of the ice this year.

As far as trolling the river, we had pretty good success last fall trolling into the current with just enough speed to keep slow forward progression, That way I was able to slide left and right with the lures and cover a lot of water. Going down current was a no go on fish for us. I need to refine a tactic for downstream.

I have not had much luck with the current either. I think since i started trolling the river i have only landed one fish with it. There is just something missing in our presentation though. I have heard some other guys when the fishing is good do good both ways. but i'm with you i just havent figured it out yet

Don't feel bad Danski, I am 0-10 in the river! Tried with the big boat and the aluminum and at the right times of the year, but just haven't boated one yet. Gonna take Pro Baits advice and throw an emerald rig out this weekend to see what happens. Got a small Muskie last weekend screwing around between the icebergs. I have my doubts this far down the river though.

Won't be long now guys, get those hooks sharp!

I have a river program that works pretty well in the early spring and its all going with the current. All the fish are heading up stream which means when you troll down stream you pass a heck of a lot more fish! I use totally different tactics and lures than I do out in the lake........?????
