New to Fort Gratiot

Postby gonefishin » Tue Oct 17, 2017 11:59 pm

Hi all. My wife and I moved to Fort Gratiot from Indiana late last year. We live on the Black River, so I've been trying out the shore fishing there and in the St Clair, with varying success. Any tips anyone has for successful fishing in either river would be great.

Welcome to the Forum and the area!
We have a ton of public fishing around here so you're in luck there. Fishing in Black River is pretty simple and most people tend to over complicate it. If you aren't picky on what you catch, worms or minnows fished on a crappie rig (Spreader) on the bottom will yield great results with a plethora of different species. If you're targeting Bass or Pike, Spinnerbaits or crankbaits are a great choice with white being a great color for them.
Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum,
