Quest For The King: I have FAILED!!!

We fished the Monday Canadian Holiday on 5/24 from 6am to 12pm. We had high hopes of finally landing a L. Huron King on the Double Down, but it was not meant to be. I have been cursed this year! Of about 15 trips this spring, I have drawn a blank! Fortunately for us, we did land a couples of steelies, a coho, 1 pink and a laker--going 5 for 6 in the turd bowl of Kettle. The steel are swarming the surface chomping on minnows. We probably could have landed more, but due to the holiday, there were about 15 boats grazing the area, making them skiddish. I will join the crew aboard The Offish Wednesday for probably the final L. Huron trip of the year in search of this eluding fish, but even if we catch one, I will have be disgusted and shamed by not landing one on my boat. We will probably catch 3 on Brian's boat.--I SUCK!!!

I have always wondered why people address the fish numbers stats in their posts, but I feel it may be knowledgable for fisherman the see my spring stats as a reference tool for their hopes:

15 trips (these are honest estimates)

L. Trout 35
Coho 25
Stellie 20
Brown 3
Atlantic 2
Pink 5
King 0

Story Told!

Good luck to you Wednesday! The 2010 elusive King may still exist out there although he eluded us all spring as was the story with many boats. Much of the same here. We only made it our 6 times this spring catching a decent amount of fish but just could not land a King. Very disapointing. This is how we ended up in 6 fished days:

19 Lakers
9 Cohos
1 Steelhead
2 Walleye

Would be interested to hear how you guys do Wednesday Double Down. My buddy just got a slip in Caseville for the summer so I think we have given up on salmon for another 10 months and will try to become better walleye fishermen. Good Luck!

I also am Kingless this year. I guess it is okay since this is my first full spring of fishing. I only got out 11 times and my last trip will be Sunday. I really only had 1 good day.

Coho 7
Lakers 11
Brown 1
Steelhead 2
Pink 4
